Ref W - Automatic Bell Ringing Time-keeper. Most players just used a kitchen timer, which of course is exactly what this was. It was supposed to end arguements about when each half ended. The bit I love in the description is 'scientifically correct to a second'. Now if you have used one of these timers you will know how untrue that is. You set the timer by turning the dial to show so many minutes and it ticked down. Sometimes the dial came off so you had no idea how long you had set it for and somtimes it failed to ring the bell at the end. Sometimes mum came in and took it away to time an egg.




The 1950-51 Catalogue finished at this point with no doubled letter references.
